JABBERJAW

Ok, let’s get it on.
Well, it was a real time journey, getting all of the records together and I am extremely happy this day finally came to life. I want to thank Owen Peery and Anthony Lew for their support and help.
Some words about Jabberjaw.
Jabberjaw was pre-Sinker, Sinker soon evolved into Indian Summer.

Jabberjaw formed somewhere in the late 80’s, early 90’s in East Bay and this band was Adam Nanaa’s first big music experience, that opened the doors for creating something really giant. Jabberjaw existed 1-2 years, gave couple of concerts and then shortly evolved into Sinker.

Jabberjaw were: Adam Nanaa, who played guitar\made vocals (Adam Nanaa played in: Jabberjaw, Sinker, Indian Summer, Silver Horseshoes, Ann Arbor, Daredevil, currently plays in We all inherit the moon)
Aaron Hoag, who played drums
Kent, who played bass guitar.

Jabberjaw discography: 7’’ Novelty (Homemade records), split with Bloodhound gang (THD records) 7’’ and one recording on a ‘This is fucked, this is shit’ compilation (Homemade records).
There was also a ‘10 song Demo’, but I was not able to find it, please knock me if you have it.

1. Jabberjaw 'Novelty' 7''. Only 500 were made. Vinyl colour is red.
Jabberjaw songs: two days, wonder, looking down, ending
this 7'' was extremely tough to find

2. Jabberjaw \ Bloodhound gang split 7''. Only 1000 were made.
Jabberjaw songs: dividing, sometimes
Bloodhound gang songs: past the fence

3. "This is fucked, this is shit" compilation
Jabberjaw: thinner
J-church: misery
Jolt: let it go
Good grief: c.f.d.

this 7'' was extremely tough to find huge thanks to Anthony Lew for making it digital

This is a small story of how it all was, told by Owen Peery. Owen ran Homemade Records and played in the Good Grief .

Owen: “I started Homemade Records with my friend Adam Nanaa. We were playing in a band together and each playing in a separate band (Adam and Owen played in the pre-Jabberjaw band, but they never decided on a name, and Owen left to play in Good Grief and Adam found others to play with him) . We wanted to be released on labels like Lookout or Verysmall Records but they were committed to releasing records a year in advance. Since we wanted to release our records immediately, we decided to start our own label. It was really easy since so many people around us were doing it we had lots of help and advice. We had a benefit show at Gilman where Jawbreaker, Good Grief, Jabberjaw, and I think 15 and Blatz may have played to raise a little money. From then on we released music of our friends or bands we liked. This was in 1990.

thank you Anthony for the poster
*not sure, that it is the exact concert, that Owen told me about

Homemade records releases were:

1. Jabberjaw - novelty 7’’
2. Grimple 7"
3. Good Grief 7"
4. This is Fucked This is Shit 7" compilation
5. Jolt/Wynona Riders split 7"
6. Current/Indian Summer split 7"

We had planned a Fine Day CD and an Underside/Pot Valiant split 7". Adam left after release 3 to form his own label and go in the more emo direction. His label was called Repercussion Records”.

Repercussion records releases were:
1. Sinker s\t 7''
2. Suiciety s\t 7''
3. Assfactor 4 - Sometimes I suck 7''
4. Manumission - Tremor on the line 7''
5. Indian Summer s\t 7''
6. Shroomunion - Fairytales and dreams 7''
7. Christopher Robin s\t 7''
8. Embassy s\t 7''

Jabberjaw’s sound is absolutely unique, you can hear pop-punk and emo connections as well. Nanaa’s music always differ from band to band, but continue being really exceptional.

Short stories about the most interesting bands, that appeared in my review.

THE BLOODHOUND GANG

Don’t know much about the Minneapolis pop-punk band the bloodhound gang, but this band is certainly not Jimmy Pop’s kind of a band.
The bloodhound gang were: Jon Brier (bass/vocals), Josh Davies (guitar), Joel Runnels (drums).
There were another release from TBG – “Locked Out” 3 songs 7’ (Noff records, Noff #1, 1990), that I have bought directly from Jason Parker of THD records (will rip it as soon as it arrives). In Bloodhound gang’s 7’’ split booklet it is written, that the band planned to make a full-length release, but probably they did not.

GOOD GRIEF

Good grief was Owen Peery’s band. Good grief were – Owen, Jerry, Jenn, Pete and Harry. Don’t know much about it, hope Owen will write one day his memories and thoughts.
Here is the bands discography:
4 song demo (even Owen does not own it – please, write me if you have it, maan)
Good grief 7’’ e.p. (on Homemade records)
Good grief’s records appeared on compilations:
Can of pork (Lookout Records)
There's a Faggot in the Pit (Bobo records)
This is fucked, this is shit (Homemade records)

Please, appreciate my kind of work – it took me lots of money and years to get all of the recordings together and make this post about Jabberjaw. The only thing I ask about - please, help me to find out some great recordings and rip them into digital. Make other people listen to sweet music. Times have changed, man. Write me if you have anything I have posted about I am trying to find and be kind.

Well, that’s all folks.
